The historic Erie Canal towpath will again be host to a multitude of runners on August 20th.  There will not be feet of snow or freezing temperatures like our winter race.  In fact you would be hard pressed to find a flatter, friendlier course in which to run an ultra.  Of course there is one little obstacle for you to overcome -you must beat the bridge.  The canal will be open for boaters during the day.  You could come across the bridge a possible 8 times during the race.   A bell will signal that the bridge is going to go up, you can try and beat the bridge and make it across before hand, you can cross the bridge once it has been lifted, or you can take a little 5 minute break while the boats are let through.  The choice is yours.
