What's New?
- We're adding a 50K to the mix on Sunday morning. After an opening Nordic loop 5K, runners will merge w/ the 50M-100M course through the Greek Peak Alpine section. As a special treat we'll allow them to return the way they came, embracing the now infamous "second passing". Start time is 8:00, course cut-off is 10 hours.
- We're returning the 100 M Relay start time to 08:00 to increase "Three Loose Nuts" advantage over the field.
- We're working on adding even more trail. Mike TenKate is working on relieving you of the Carson Road paved climb and descent. Some gorgeous views for the history books from Carson Road, but bring the trail.
- No more extra mileage for the price of a 50 or 100. The course re-route will hopefully take us back to 50 and 100 mile courses. That should mean more people eyeing that 24 hour mark.
- Coming by popular demand, tech shirts for the Schwag-optioners.
- Possibility of Chip-Timing by FastFinishes. Huh, what is this, a road 5K? Nope, just pushing the envelope for administering trail ultras. If we can achieve reliable wireless signals at the Rock Pile and Daisy Hollow, chip timing will simplify things for our volunteers with time entry and increase the reliability and real-time'ness of runner tracking.
- Elimination of the Greek Peak Alpine repeat for the 50 and 100 milers per its equating to a belief that the R.D. has masochistic tendencies.
- Just kidding on that last one, I love that such course qualities make you all tougher than nearly any other ultra course on the east coast. Love those hills.
What's staying the same?
- Gorgeous trail, fall foliage and wonderful volunteers.
- Staging location at Hope Lake Park.
- Out-back format passing through Hope Lake Park's Nordic facility, Tuller Hill State Forest, Greek Peak Mountain Alpine Resort, and James Kennedy State Forest.
- Cut-off times of 16.5/36 hours for the 50/100, 28 for the Relay.
- The option to purchase schwag and finish commemoratives only if you want them.
- Buckles to all 100 Mile finishers.
- Locally hand-thrown/made finishers mugs to all 50 and 100 M finishers and pint glasses to 50K and 100M Relay finishers to all those choosing the "Schwag Option".
- Pre-race pasta dinner and post-race BBQ options brought to you by and to support the Virgil Fire Department and Community who are supporting you.
