USATF Niagara LDR Championships
USATF Niagara is looking for 3 races to host the 2012 LDR USATF Niagara
Championships. If your a race director or know of a race that would be
interested in hosting a championship please have the race director or
someone affiliated with the race fill out the bid form and return it to

) by 2/15/2012. USATF Niagara is looking for well organized,
high quality, competitive races that will allow athletes to perform at
the highest levels and prepare for competing at the USATF Niagara
Championships. Whenever possible, these races will be used to help
determine which athletes will be supported by USATF Niagara to attend
the National Championships should resources available. USATF Niagara Bid Form can be found here usatf_niagara_bid_document.
Generally speaking, the LDR committee is looking for a 5K, a medium distance race in the 8-10K region, and one longer race of approximately 15K-Half Marathon. All complete bids will be considered. The following Table lists the prize money Niagara will be offering to Niagara individuals and teams at the 3 road championships.

* Up to $500 in travel reimbursement to the national race. Reimbursement is dependent on the location of the National race and traveling cost. The reimbursement will roll down to 2nd or 3rd place if 1st place doesn't want to or cannot go.
** The standards will be set at approximately 89% Age Grade. The exact time for open runners will be set based upon the race selected.
*** At present, club prize money will be offered for the shorter 2 of the 3 championships, but is subject to change. Women will score 3 runners and men will score 5 runners. Prize has been adjusted for the number of runners on a team.

to discuss Niagara's online entry system. It is a relatively simple process and can provide you with all desired race entry blanks, as well as a clickable race waiver.
On April 19th Norm Frank of Rochester was awarded a Special Recognition Award from the USATF Masters Long Distance Running in recognition of Norm's contributions to Masters Long Distance Running in having run the most marathons by any American.

Long distance running consists of many different age and skill levels as it also varies in different distances. Many people run for different reasons, some people choose to run to get in shape for another sport or to improve their lifestyle. Other people decide to run for the competition, to test oneself, and for the mere enjoyment of running. The Niagara Association members come from all different ages and levels of abilities, which include up and coming youth athletes who are just starting out in the sport, high school athletes with some experiences, more seasoned collegiate athletes participating in cross country and track, post-collegiate male and female athletes making their mark after college, and the many masters level athletes competing in road racing, cross country, and track. Look for many of our Niagara Association athletes competing in National Champions and inspiring future Olympians.
As the Men’s Long Distance Running Chair I am dedicated to improve the different aspects of running in our association such as the quality of competition at our championships and the individual performances at all levels. I also feel it is important that our association members traveling to other regions and/or to National Championships perform at their very highest level.
