Northeast Future Stars Meet:
Dear Youth Coach/Parent/Athlete,
I am excited to announce a tremendous opportunity for the youth cross country athletes in the Northeast region, the Northeast Future Stars Race. USATF New York and the meet directors for the Nike Team Nationals Northeast Regional meet have teamed up to offer 3 youth races at Bowdoin Park before the NTN meet begins on November 26. The Northeast Future Stars Race is designed to bring established youth athletes together and compete on the same stage as the best high school teams in our region. Athletes in the Bantam, Midget, and Youth age divisions (USATF defined) are eligible for the races. No Sub-Bantam, Intermediate, and Young M/W will be accepted. Intermediate and Young M/W are encouraged to enter the NTN meet. All competitors and families are also encouraged to remain at Bowdoin to enjoy and support the high school races, as they battle for spots at the Nike Team National Championships.
The entry for the Northeast Future Stars Race is online at www.coacho.com, only. The online entry will open on November 2 and close on November 22 at 11:59pm. No mail in or race day entires will be accepted.
The top ten (10) individual finishers in each division and gender will receive medals. The top three (3) athletes in every gender and division will score for their respective states. The top state in every division/gender will be declared the winner in the STATES COMPETITION. The top three (3) athletes on winnig STATE TEAMS will receive trophies. All athletes will compete for their respective clubs/teams, otherwise.
This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight your best athletes in front of the Northeast region. The meet will serve as a viable tune up for the USATF and other national caliber meets, later in the season. Bring your best youth and middle school athletes to the big stage, as we show the world why Northeast XC is dynomite. Please see the Recommended Entry Standards on the flyer when choosing your athletes. USATF membership is recommended , BUT NOT NEEDED.
The official meet flyer is attached. It is also available on www.newyork.usatf.org. This meet is sanctioned by USATF New York. Please forward and share this information with your fellow coaches, associations, and local teams.
Sincerely,
Sean Rice

USATF Youth Programs
Win with Integrity
On the non-competitive side, USATF's "Win With Integrity" program showcases star athletes speaking with local schools about the importance of fitness, a healthy lifestyle, living with integrity--including a drug-free life--and setting goals. "Win With Integrity" has been enthusiastically embraced by USATF athletes and the students to whom they speak. Watch for "Win With Integrity" in your area!
USATF Coaches Background ScreeningAll coaches and volunteers working with youth athletes are required to have a background check. USA Track & Field will use TC LociQ for all background checks. This is the only format of background check accepted. Anyone with a completed background check for their job must still have one performed by TC LogiQ .

USATF DRUG TESTING at Youth Nationals & Junior OlympicsThe USATF Youth Committee voted to begin drug testing this year at the Youth National & Junior Olympic Meets. The committee is being proactive by taking this step and setting up a testing program . Last year was an introduction year with the athletes watching a video showing the drug testing process and procedures. This year the drug testing will begin. Testing will be done on the Intermediate and Young Men/Women age divisions and will NOT be restricted to medal winners. Athlete selection for testing will be random by competitor number.
