Syracuse Charger Runners Post Fast Indoor Times

New Master runner, Scott Weeks, M40, Cortland, NY, Syracuse Chargers joined three Master runners from the Boston area to set a new Master  4×800 world best at NY City Armory indoor track on Friday, January 25th. Weeks, Erik Nedeau M41, Chris Simpson M44 and Mark Gomes M42, averaged under two minutes per 800m leg to run 7:58.12, which crushed the listed indoor WR of 8:07.48 set in 2009.

The splits were amazing: Simpson – 2:00.9, Weeks – 1:57.8, Gomes – 2:00.9 and Nedeau – 1:58.5

Meanwhile, on Saturday, January 26th up in Boston, MA at the BU Terrier Classic, Syracuse Charger Open Men fared very well. They were led by Josh Guarino’s 4th place finish of 1:51.06 in the 800m which was only .22 off the win. Josh’s brother, Nick Guarino finished 12th in the Mile in 4:04.49. The Mile race was won by London Olympic 10k silver-medalist, Galen Rupp, who ran the 5th best indoor mile time ever - 3:50.92.
