In the Niagara
Association, we are proud to host, along with the Niagara
Walkers & New York State Parks, and support the USATF National
10K Race Walk Championships each June in Niagara Falls. This is
our marquee event and also kicks off our “Summer Series,” a
10-week walking program conducted by the Niagara Walkers at
beautiful Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island. Take part
in the 30 minute clinic and join the group for a walk along the
shores of the scenic Niagara River. For more information about

There are a few
excellent websites and an e-list server that offers great links
and loads of information related to race walking in North
America and beyond.

In the Niagara
Region we are also close to Canada. The Ontario Track & Field
Association (www.otfa.ca)
has an events calendar which does include race walking events.
Some of their track meets may also have race walking divisions.
Two of their larger events are the Art Keay
Memorial 10K in late May (Toronto), a good tune up for the USATF
10K Race Walk Championships the following weekend. Another
opportunity is the Rose City Walks in
Welland
in late September or early October.
If you are
interested in hosting a race walking event (race or clinic) in
the Niagara Association, please let me know. I’ll do what I can
to help promote it and if possible attend the event.
