Elite Athletes
If you are an elite athlete in the Niagara region, please feel free to reach out to your men's or women's LDR rep pictured above for assistance. You may qualify for programs sponsored at the National level. See the ADP standards and eligibility to see if you qualify. A list of National Championships can be found there, or a more complete list here. We encourage you to go out and show the country how good athletes from Niagara are.
Long distance running consists of many different age and skill levels as it also varies in different distances. Many people run for different reasons, some people choose to run to get in shape for another sport or to improve their lifestyle. While others decide to run for the competition, to test oneself, and for the mere enjoyment of running. The Niagara Association members come from all different ages and levels of abilities, which include up and coming youth athletes who are just starting out in the sport, high school athletes with some experiences, more seasoned collegiate athletes participating in cross country and track, post-collegiate male and female athletes making their mark after college, and the many masters level athletes competing in road racing, cross country, and track. Look for many of our Niagara Association athletes competing in National Champions and inspiring future Olympians.
As the Men’s Long Distance Running Chair I am dedicated to improve the different aspects of running in our association such as the quality of competition at our championships and the individual performances at all levels. I also feel it is important that our association members traveling to other regions and/or to National Championships perform at their very highest level.

** Master's Age Grading bonuses will be awarded to any runner achieving 89.0% or higher Age Grade.

Open 10K Standards: Men: 31:00 Women: 35:00
Open 5K Standards: Men: 14:50 Women: 17:00

**** Team prize money will be awarded at the 5K and 10K Championships ONLY. Women's teams will have up to 6 runners and will score top 3 based on average time. Men's teams will have up to 8 runners will score top 5 based on average time. Prize has been adjusted for the number of runners on a team.

Future Championships
USATF Niagara will be looking to get bids for 2014 races in November of 2013. Race Directors interested in bidding should consider talking to any of the LDR chairs throughout the year. This will help you know what we are looking for in Championship races, so that you can complete a more successful bid. The races and prize structures will be re-evaluated at the end of the year, but the committee hopes to offer a similar structure as we have put together in 2013.

Niagara Athletes at USA Master's Half Marathon Championships
Congratulations to Kevin Collins and Kristin White who both competed in the USA Masters Half Marathon Championships in Melbourne, FL on Super Bowl Sunday. Kevin was 3rd overall in the race in 1:10:13 and took home a nice prize check. Kristin was 7th overall in 1:28:51. Remember South African Olympian, Zola Budd? Now 45, she was the 3rd place overall woman in 1:23:47.

On April 19th, 2010 Norm Frank of Rochester was awarded a Special Recognition Award from the USATF Masters Long Distance Running in recognition of Norm's contributions to Masters Long Distance Running in having run the most marathons by any American.
